Polyester POY (Partially Oriented Yarn)
Polyester POY (Partially Oriented Yarn) is a multi-filament yarn that is only partially stretched. It is the primary form of yarn produced through spinning polyester melt or chips. This multi-filament polyester yarn can be woven or knitted to produce textured fabrics.
This type of polyester yarn can be manufactured by spin-drawing or air-texturizing processes. It is mainly used for producing industrial applications that require uniformity and consistent tenacity, elongation, and shrinkage. It is also commonly used in binder yarns, industrial sewing threads, and hose reinforcements.
The market revenue for Polyester POY is expected to grow significantly over the forecast period. The increasing demand for high-quality polyester fabrics across various industries including automotive, construction, and textiles is anticipated to drive the market growth in the upcoming years.
In addition, the rise in demand for fabric that possesses abrasion-resistant and washable properties is also driving the market growth of this type of polyester yarn. Moreover, the rising automobile sales across the globe is boosting the demand for automotive fabrics.
Besides, the increasing number of fashion capitals such as France, Italy, UK, and Spain is further propelling the market revenue growth of this type of polyester yarn in Europe. Additionally, the growth in the construction and automotive industries is also expected to boost the market revenue in Europe over the forecast period.
Another important component of this polyester yarn is the WINGS technology that is implemented in the spinning process to ensure the quality of the yarn produced. This technology reduces deflection angle of the yarn and increases the fiber tension and CV% values, resulting in better dyeability. The WINGS technology ensures that the spun yarn retains its quality during the texturizing and drawing processes, which is beneficial for the further processing of the textiles.
These types of polyester filament yarns are primarily utilized as raw materials for draw textured yarn (DTY). This is a continuous filament yarn that has been processed to introduce durable crimps twists, interlaces, loops or other fine distortions along its length.
DTY is suitable for outer/inner garments, skin-clinging garments, furnishings, upholstery, and other applications. It is available in Semi-Dull, Bright, and Trilobal Bright lusters depending on the filament length of the raw material.
In the global market, Asia Pacific accounted for the largest share of this polyester yarn and is expected to register a CAGR of 7.7% over the forecast period. The growth in the automotive industry across the region is further expected to contribute towards the market revenue growth of this polyester yarn in Asia Pacific.
North America was the second-largest market for this type of polyester yarn and is expected to register a rapid revenue growth rate over the forecast period. The market revenue for this polyester yarn is projected to increase at a moderate rate in North America due to growing automobile sales and expanding construction and automotive sectors in the region.
Polyester POY Bright Yarn (Trilobal Bright POY Yarn)
POY (POLYESTER YARN) is available in various kinds of lustrousness like Full-Dull POY, Semi-Dull POY and Bright POY.
In order to eliminate the luster of the fiber, titanium dioxide (TiO₂) was added into the melt spinning process. POY yarn without TiO₂, it is considered as Bright filament POY (or Tri-lobal Bright yarn). If 0.3% TiO₂ is added, it is called semi-dull filament POY. And if TiO₂ added is more than 0.3%, it is considered as full-dull filament POY. And therefore, the polyester bright yarn looks more shine than semi-dull or full-dull yarns in the light. The fabric made from Bright POY also has the bright luster.
